For the Not Back to School Days Field Trip, there are FIVE academic experiences to choose from.  Disneyland teaches their Youth In Education Series (Y.E.S.) classes right in the theme park!  Please read the pre-teach material for each experience, and the age/height restrictions for each class before you register.  Also, read the FAQ about the flexibility in age/grade levels.

The newest class - the Pursuit of Excellence Leadership class - has a minimum age requirement of 12 and older.  This leadership class is not found on Disneyland's website - it is presently an exclusive offer from Disneyland to Southwest Home Educators Association.
Disney Leadership in Action: Pursuit of Excellence NEW!!
A three hour leadership experience through Disneyland Park where students discover Walt Disney’s “secret of making dreams come true.” Students will be challenged to dwell in the possibilities, have the courage to step out of their comfort zone and understand the importance of diversity. Throughout this program students will also learn how to work together through a team building experience, become confident in how to accomplish their goals and be motivated to achieve the impossible.  THIS CLASS IS RESERVED FOR AGES 12 AND OLDER ONLY!  For downloadable outline information on this class, CLICK HERE.
DEADLINE FOR DISNEYLAND TRIP EXTENDED AGAIN - WE MUST CLOSE THE Y.E.S. CLASS REGISTRATIONS AFTER THAT TO PROCESS ALL THE ORDERS - SO HURRY AND GET RESERVED TODAY AND JOIN ALMOST 1000 HOMESCHOOLERS AT DISNEYLAND SEPTEMBER 15-17, 2008!!!!!
California, Here I Come!
A 2-1/2 hour journey through the California Adventure park.  Discuss the four regions of California, Native Americans, the Gold Rush and California Missions. They also look at important figures in California history.  Disney recommends this class for 3-4th grades - but all homeschoolers 6 and older have enjoyed this class.  Please review the teacher's guide before making a decision.  For a downloadable pdf teacher's guide - CLICK HERE.
Physics - Motion
Gain an understanding of the real world application of physics in a theme park setting. Students identify and define potential energy, kinetic energy, speed, velocity and acceleration. They also have the opportunity to make observations and hypotheses, experiment and come to a conclusion by exploring Mulholland Madness, the Maliboomer and California Screamin'.  Disney recommends this experience for grades 6-12.  Homeschoolers who are 11 and older do very well in this class - but please note the height restrictions on the rides.  For downloadable teachers guides and learning objectives, CLICK HERE.
Physics - Energy
Students examine and gain an understanding on how the energy of light and sound come together to create a unique experience in Disney animated movies.  Students also discover electromagnetism by exploring the high speed, thrilling roller coaster, California Screamin'.  Disney rates this experience appropriate for grades 5-12, but homeschoolers 9 and older have benefited from this class.  Please review the height restrictions on the ride, and read the teacher guide, objectives, and outline to make sure your child can understand the topics.  To find the pre-teach material, CLICK HERE.
Animation Magic
Students discover and learn about the history, creativity and innovation of the animation process and how the vision of Walt Disney influenced the history of animation. Students have the opportunity to create a kineograph, plan and design their own storyboard, and explore their creativity in the Sorcerer's Workshop. They also discuss, observe and participate in character development at the Animation Academy and see how technology has influenced animation.  This experience is rated by Disney for grades 3-12.  Homeschoolers as young as 7 and older enjoy this class.  Please read the pre-teach material and decide if your child can understand the vocabulary.  CLICK HERE.
